The web is 30+ years old and a lot has changed. So why do we still build our websites like we did before? Making a case for an inclusive website can prove to be challenging, especially if you don't have the right knowledge and skills to showcase how important and simple it is to build it. How do you make your web product all inclusive, without adding more cost?
In this episode of our Elevenses series, Norbert Nagy, Senior Developer AND Accessibility Advocate, will take you on a journey of the web then and now, demystifying the most common misconceptions around accessibility. He will then demonstrate simple techniques to build better things for everyone on the web.
This session will cover:
- A brief history of accessibility on the web
- Demystifying common misconceptions
- How to be more inclusive - from design through development and testing
Norbert is a software engineer, specialising in frontend development with a strong belief in inclusivity and accessibility. He believes that as engineers we are building things that should be usable by anyone online, so it’s our responsibility to build them in the best possible way with our end users in mind.
About AND Elevenses
In our collective new normal of working from home, we’ve noticed ourselves just how easy it is to lose track of time and find yourself working without sufficient breaks. Without these, we all know how fast productivity, focus and wellbeing can dwindle.
So, to help break up your day, we’ve launched AND Elevenses: snappy, 45-minute live webinar sessions where you can learn new skills, network with others and take some time out from your working day.
If you've missed an event, don't worry. You can watch recordings here from each Elevenses session we run.
