Fundraising for Yorkshire Air Ambulance at AND Digital's

Club Adams

The team at club Adams in Leeds has been raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) services. On Wednesday 5 July, Club Exec James Locker was able to hand over a cheque for £619,75 to Helen Berriman, YAA representative and West Yorkshire Regional Fundraiser for the organisation.

What is Yorkshire Air Ambulance fundraising for?

Berriman commented: “YAA does not receive any funding from the government so we have a big fundraising target to keep our services going. It costs over £3,000 every time the air ambulance goes on a mission, which in most cases revolves around saving someone’s life. The money we received today from club Adams will fund what we call the “golden hour” for 1 patient. That is the first hour of care the patient receives which is the most critical time to save someone’s life.”

Locker added: “Supporting local organisations in the Yorkshire area is core to AND and our ANDis. We chose YAA as for many of us, we have either been personally affected by their life saving service or have friends in emergency services who we hold very dearly.”

How did AND Digital raise funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance?

Over the past weeks, the Adams team members have come together for evenings of head-to-head games with knock-out rounds, semi-finals and a Grand Finale. Members of the club played in each round and their fellow ANDis supported them by donating money to bid for winners. To increase the fundraising push, the organisers added some healthy sabotage to some of the games with the added twist of contestants being entered into the famous “pie face challenge”.

Tom Budenberg, Product Analyst, and James Brining, Lead Product Developer, drove a lot of the fun and competitions: “Many of my close friends and family work in emergency services saving lives every day. Hard to reach emergencies and working in partnership with YAA is truly transformational when it means getting patients to specialist hospital units for life saving operations. Bringing the Adams team together to play games, raise money but also get the understand what YAA does, has been very rewarding for all of us.”
